The Cultural History of the British Woodcraft Movement

5 oral history interviews recorded by in 2016 by Annebella Pollen for the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded project The Cultural History of the British Woodcraft Movement 1916-2016. The object of this project was to create a permanent history of the Woodcraft movement through life stories of those who participated in the organisations as children or adult members. These organisations included, but were not limited to, The Kindred of the Kibbo Kift and the Order of Woodcraft Chivalry. The following audio recordings and associated documentation have been deposited at the British Library: • 5 oral history interviews (9 PCM WAV files, recorded at 44.1kHZ, 16 bit) • 5 content summaries, one per interview (.docx) • 5 original signed recording agreements, one per interview (paper copies).

The site also provides entries for projects by the practice, John Honeyman, Keppie / Honeyman, Keppie Mackintosh during the Mackintosh years 1889–1913; images and data from the office record books; a catalogue raisonné of over 1200 drawings by Mackintosh and the practice; analytical and contextual essays; biographies of over 400 clients, colleagues, contractors and suppliers; timeline; glossary; and bibliography.

This is a complete record of the annual exhibition catalogues of the Royal Photographic Society 1870-1915, stored as mySQL data files and high resolution images of the cataloge pages themselves, supplemented with images scanned from the contemporary journal 'Photograms of the Year'. The database sits behind a Web site that offers browsing of the catalogue data, images and page scans, simple quick searches by key word and advanced boolean based searching.

Early cinema in Scotland, 1896-1927

The project website is a major output of the project. It is a MySQL database containing tables on venues, people, companies, films, newspaper and trade press articles. The venues and film locations (mainly for non-fiction Scottish films) are georeferenced. This is used to generate map markers to display on the public page, allowing users to click through from the map to otherinformation in the database. We have used the underlying data in other ways - classifying and comparing layers in response to specific research questions - so we intend to make the raw data available for other film historians. However the 'front end' of the web site will present a simpler interface for public access, with just venues and film locations.

British Black and Asian Shakespeare Performance Database

The database, edited and principally compiled by Dr. Jami Rogers, contains the records of over 1100 productions of Shakespeare to which British black or Asian actors, directors and other production personnel have contributed. The database spans the time period of 1930 - 2015 and tracks casting patterns for ethnic minority performers. It contains information about the production, the media reaction to the BAME personnel's work within these productions, and lists the roles actors have played in the plays recorded. It provides a record of achievements and a statistical framework for analysing shifting professional opportunities over 85 years. The database is a major theatre history tool as well as having the ability to track casting policies from 1930 - 2015.
